Detailed Description

Node is the primary attachment point for publisher, subscriber, service-client, and action-client items. Set the node property of each entity to this node.

Child entities declared inside a Node item are automatically registered with it via the childEntities default property.

Property Documentation

entities : list<NodeChild>

Read-only. The list of NodeChild items (entities, parameters) currently registered with this node. Managed automatically as they are created and destroyed.

initialized : bool

Read-only. true once the underlying rclcpp node has been created and the ROS executor is running. All child entities start their connections when this becomes true.

nodeName : string

The ROS 2 node name. Must be a valid ROS identifier. Set this before the component completes; changing it after initialization has no effect.

nodeNamespace : string

The ROS 2 namespace for this node. Defaults to "/" (global namespace).

void refreshNetworkInterfaces()

Makes the DDS layer re-scan the host's network interfaces. Fast DDS captures the interface list when the node is created; an interface that appears later (a cable plugged in, Wi-Fi association, a DHCP lease) is otherwise never used for discovery, leaving the node invisible to other machines until restart. The node watches for interface changes and calls this automatically every few seconds; call it directly for an immediate re-scan when the application has its own network-change signal. A no-op under non-Fast-DDS RMW implementations.
