Image Not Found

The Image Not Found dialog opens automatically during test execution in Squish IDE if the ScreenRectangle findImage(imageFile, [parameterMap], [searchRegion]) function cannot find the requested occurrence of a template image, or if the ScreenRectangle waitForImage(imageFile, [parameterMap], [searchRegion]) function reaches the specified or default timeout.

The dialog shows the template image(s) that could not be found and the latest desktop screenshot used for the image search. From here, you can update the search image, adjust the search parameters, retry the search, or continue the test with an error.

To replace the failed image, click Update Image. This opens the Image Selection Editor, where you can select a new image to use instead.

To add another image to the search, click Add New Image. The Image Selection Editor opens and lets you select an additional image. The new image is added to the Image Group associated with the failed search. If the search previously used a single image, Squish converts it into an image group.

To review or change the search configuration, click Adjust Search Parameters. This opens the Image Search Preview dialog, where you can inspect the search results and adjust the parameters for either the Classic or VisionIQ search mode.

Click Save the failed screenshot to save the desktop screenshot that was used for the failed image search. You can use the saved screenshot for further analysis or debugging.

To continue test execution and report the lookup failure, click Throw Error. This may terminate the test unless the test script handles the lookup error and recovers from it.

Select Do not show this dialog again before clicking Throw Error to suppress the dialog for subsequent image lookup errors. You can re-enable it in the Playback preferences pane.

To let Squish try to resolve Image Not Found errors automatically, select Attempt to fix Image Not Found errors automatically. Then choose whether Squish applies the adjusted search parameters by modifying the test instruction or changing the defaults.

When modifying the test instruction is selected, Squish updates the corresponding image search parameters in the test script. When changing the defaults is selected, Squish updates the default image search settings in Test Suite Settings > Image Search.

Click Retry to run the image search again and resume the test case. Any changes made to the search image or search parameters are used for the new search.
